– Central Long Island Fishing Report – June 28, 2018

Aloha friends, what a great week to fish with a great weekend ahead of us!

This week I was able to get out and fish, fish, fish! Both from my kayak over the weekend covering an incredible amount of water from West Meadow Beach up to Cranes Neck Point and from shore each day while taking advantage of my lunch breaks through to Cedar Beach in Mount Sinai. I think I’ve finally found out how to get as much fishing time in despite my super busy life and schedule. Who needs food when you can squeeze in every chance to fish!

I’m happy to report we are full force into the 2018 Fishing Season and the LI Sound has definitely come to life! A vast array of baitfish can be found just about anywhere. With plenty of shorts and keepers underneath, in, and around the vicinity.

Fluke, Stripers, Black Sea Bass, Porgies, Cocktail Blues, and of course the occasional Sea Robin can be found. I even saw someone catch a nice fat Blackfish on my way out. Of course, it was safely released due to being out of season but it’s definitely a great sign of things to come! I’m standing behind my early call that THIS IS GOING TO BE A RECORD BREAKING 2018 FISHING SEASON!

My go-to lure as always is the Zoom Bubblegum Fluke. I’m not sponsored by them and have no affiliation but they are made here in the good ole USA, affordable at $2.79 for a pack of 10, and they fit the profile and action of most of our local baitfish.

So get out there and fish, fish, fish! Send in your reports, photos, and videos to

Until next time or we meet on da h2o. Please spread da aloha! Da Hawaiian Dan is signing out – ALOHA
