Bass Fishing Tournament – Messalonskee Lake, Maine – KBF TourneyX Trail Event – Bonafide SS127

My first KBF Tournament I attended was held in Messalonskee Lake in Maine, and what an interesting day this was! Full of many ups and downs mentally and physically, it was one awesome experience that I’m going to learn from and get better because of.

I almost caught 3 fish…the 3rd being a VERY sizable fish. From seeing him jump just out from my yak I would peg him between 4.5 and 5.5 lbs. Very tough to lose that one.
I finished 21st out of 39 anglers. It was a rough day!

First fish of the day was caught on my Savage Gear Fruck in the “Mallard” color. I thought for sure this thing was a pike, but it got me on the board in the first 15 minutes or so from the start of the tourney. I thought for sure, at this moment, I was going to catch my limit. How wrong I was! lol

Winner of the whole thing was Ken Wood from Massachusetts Kayak Bassin’ (MAKB). Couldn’t of been happier to win it myself I don’t think, as this guy certainly deserves it!! I won’t tell his story for him, but after hearing it from the man myself first hand….it’s an emotional one. Let’s just say, we’re all happy that Ken is here with us to fish against and kick our ass 😀
Congrats Ken!

Shout out to Shawn Roche over at Mountain Road Trading Post. Without your support and help along the way, this KBF tournament wouldn’t have been the same. Cheers to you and your crew over at the shop! (Ki, I’m high fiving you 🙂 )
