Fished on April 16-18, 1998
Alex Rudd demonstrates how to fish topwater for summer bass using the BD Series Popper. He breaks it down into rigging, retrieval and location.
Catching big bass on cheap fishing lures is just as fun as the name brand. This episode is a cheap lure vs. name brand lure comparison. The first lure I use is the cheap Blaze topwater popper for $1.50. I manage to catch a big bass just as the sun is going down. I also get a few outgoing panfish to hit the popper too. The next day I try the Strike King popper that retails for $7.99. While I didn’t get any panfish to go for it, I did end up catching another big bass. I think both of these poppers performed very well. Don’t forget the pliers like I did or you will be running to the car. If I am catching big bass on poppers, even cheap ones, you can too.

Did some fishing and filming this weekend in michigan for the tournament. We had a solid finish but had some issues with the lakes camp over a fishing spot of ours. They claimed we couldnt fish it because they were using it for speedboats even though we had been fishing that stretch for 2 plus hours before they even came out. Not to mention it is a public lake and public water so we are 100% allowed to be there. I go over everything in the vid in further detail.
Thanks for watching!

Smallmouth Fishing on the Susquehanna River! Catching a bunch of Smallmouth Bass in a Jet Boat!
So I spent the day with Joe Raymond who owns Susquehanna Smallmouth Guides. This was my first time ever fishing out of a jet boat for smallmouth bass and what an experience. The Susquehanna river is by far the best smallmouth fishing in this area I have ever experienced! It is full of fish and even though we had a cold front come in we still managed to catch a few good fish!. I can’t wait to get back on the Susquehanna to fish for smallies! I love this place!
The bite was mainly top water in the morning so I was using a spook and we also caught fish on a Lucky Craft Sammy. The tube and jig bite was also pretty good for us. The Zman plastics worked real well and put some real good smallmouth in the boat.

Travis Manson’s Guided Bass Fishing Trips
Who is SmallmouthCrush?
Travis Manson was born and raised where the giant Smallmouth Bass of the north live…WISCONSIN. He started fishing from the bank at a young age and spent most of his childhood with a rod in his hand. Travis is primarily a self-taught angler that is always learning and experiencing this amazing sport of fishing. He started out fishing for walleyes and fishing in local walleye tournaments, but then in his mid 20’s, he caught the BASS BUG and has been hooked every since. He competed at the highest level in bass fishing on the Bassmaster Elite Series for a number of years, until he ran out of $$ money $$. This led to a move across the country to the Northeast where he got things right again and is back on track, but now on his own terms. Perhaps he will make another run at the Elite Series if the opportunity allows. In the meantime, he is a fishing guide offering trips on the Chesapeake Bay for largemouth bass(year round), guided trips for smallmouth back in Wisconsin (during select times) and trophy smallmouth bass guided trips in Upstate New York (May-November) His Youtube Channel is named after his passion for the smallmouth bass and will be used as a platform for “how-to” videos, on the water instruction, crazy on and off the water topics and vlogs on the day in the life of a fishing addict! Hope you enjoy!
I’m bass fishing with some small creature baits and fishing around the bank of this lake in shallow water. The largemouth bass are in pre spawn and spawn mode so most of them are shallow around hard banks with some cover. I’m trying to go for a big bass, so I’m fishing my soft plactic worm on the bottom really slow and making precise casts. I never hooked into a giant but still had some nice solid bass. These fish are sitting in less than 3 feet of water and some almost in a foot of water.
